Connecting Past and Present: Indigenous Hawaiian Sites & Emerging Technologies Grant

The primary objective was to empower students to become storytellers of their communities, delving into the rich Indigenous Hawaiian history embedded within specific place-based sites. By fostering a deep connection to their heritage and integrating emerging technologies, students embarked on a journey of discovery, observation, and creative expression.

The project was designed to be an immersive and hands-on experience, allowing students to explore their local environment through a historical and cultural lens. The purpose of this process was to support our students’ ideas of community abundance as a way to steward youth philanthropy. A key component of our initiative involved a series of insightful field trips using a trolley, enabling students to access various significant locations within their community.
