Kuleana as Privilege

'26-'27 Cohort

The third year of HCYP builds on the pilina, learning, and leadership developed over the program’s first two years. With returning schools and new communities joining the cohort, youth and educators are continuing to deepen their practice of philanthropy through waiwai, pilina, and ʻauamo kuleana. This year also strengthens HCYP’s intergenerational structure, with Youth Board Members, Educator Board representatives, and Fellows working in connected roles while keeping youth leadership at the center. Through participatory grant-making, community partnerships, and shared learning, the cohort is continuing to grow a more connected and youth-led vision for philanthropy in Hawaiʻi.

"A really great way to build pilina is time and sweat."
